01. Preamble

This page contains general information and answers to some of the questions you may have about Tormer. While it’s a bit of a dive, we encourage you to take the time to read through. Should further questions arise after your read, please don’t hesitate to reach out

01. On who we are

We’re thinkers, listeners, talkers, and doers—all rolled into one—we design brand identities, digital products, graphic illustrations, and web experiences,. At the heart of everything we do is a passion for good design, which is only rivaled by our love for the creative process itself.
You could be a personal brand, a corporation, or a government entity—regardless of size, scale, or scope—we’ll meet you where you are. We’ll listen attentively to your needs, ask the right questions (lots of them!), and collaborate with you every step of the way to ensure the work we do on your behalf aligns with your vision.
We believe that the best ideas emerge from the intersection of diverse perspectives. That’s why we often bring together talented professionals, veterans from various backgrounds and disciplines, to collaborate and create in an environment where fresh perspectives and disruptive ideas thrive effortlessly.
Working with us, you’ll find that we maintain a simple and flat organizational structure—which enables openness, agility, responsiveness, and deep empathy in all that we do. Our founder, Nathanael, and other studio partners are actively involved in every project—ensuring that their passion and enthusiasm always reflect in all the work we produce. We extend this personal touch to every client—who eventually become integral members of our extended family—always valued, heard, and supported.
We prioritize projects where we have direct access to key decision-makers and primary contacts who possess a deep understanding of their organization’s vision and goals. This allows for seamless collaboration and the elimination of unnecessary hurdles.

03. On time zones and equators

We are a fully remote studio working seamlessly across borders and time zones––spanning GMT, EST and WAT. With almost a decade collaborating remotely, we’ve got our workflow down to a science.
Internally, almost everything design happens in Figma, We manage project updates and timelines using a combination of emails, Asana, and WhatsApp. G-Suite and One drive takes care of documents and file sharing , and most meetings happen either on meet, teams, or zoom
We’ve been around the block enough times to know that daily stand-ups aren’t always efficient as they often deteriorate quickly into workshops, or brainstorming sessions, which can sometimes waste precious work time. Instead, we have ‘decentralized on-demand meet-ups’ that allow us to overlap and catch up as needed.

04. On Creation and the Creative process

Creating is all we know how to do, it’s an inherent part of who we are. It’s the way we make sense of this chaotic world, It’s the way impose order on the unknown, and find meaning when there is nothing but darkness.
When we create, we navigate the delicate balance between instinct and analysis, emotion and logic. This dance requires discipline, precision, and a willingness to take risks – both creatively and intellectually.
Our work is hard; it demands patience, perseverance, and an openness to learning from failure. But, the excitement that comes from seeing our ideas come to life, keeps us steady, focused, and unyielding, even in difficult times.
We’re not alone. Our community of like-minded individuals – founders, leaders, visionaries, and partners – share our passion and commitment to creating a better world. Together, we’re united by a shared goal: to make our world a healthier, more educated, equitable, innovative, sustainable, happy, and peaceful place.
We draw inspiration from the collective unconscious, a boundless ocean of primal energy that fuels our creative fervor and drives us to artistic expression. In gratitude, we pour ourselves into our work, giving everything we can until there’s nothing left to give – we then find a way to give just a little more.

05. On Pace and Studio Ethics

We work on a handful of projects per year; we’re very picky and selective about what we take on—a privilege we do not take for granted. We prioritize clients who make stuff we’d love to use or actually use ourselves. This eliminates the need to pretend to love an idea, product, or service—if it’s not something we’re genuinely stoked about, we won’t waste our time (or yours).
We are proudly small and never intend to grow big. We don’t actively seek outside services; rarely participate in competitions—our goal is not to win awards or become famous (not that they’re bad)—all we just want to do is help. Help businesses led by founders who put their users at the center of everything they do, have realistic deadlines, and appropriate budgets.
We collaborate both internally and with clients like family; everyone gets involved in every project, from start to finish. We keep things simple and straightforward; no red tapes, no bureaucracies, no unnecessary meetings or egos getting in the way of good design. Just honest communication and a commitment to delivering results.

05. On Credibility, and why work with Us

Because you were most likely referred by founders or organizations we’ve partnered with in the past, or are currently working with; and they most likely have told you what we are capable of.
Or maybe you found us through our social media accounts or a link somewhere on the interwebs. Whether you were referred or discovered us on your own, the best way to know if we’re a good fit is to explore our website and social media pages—then reach out once you’re confident we’d work great together.
We kindly request that you avoid asking us to share “previous projects” or to submit project proposals or pitches for “potential projects”––we’ll leave that to the other guys. We think this practice is futile and has no practical value. It does nothing but feed your intellectual entertainment–fueling a bias that should not even exist in the first place.
Sharing previous work is not guarantee that our work together will be successful, What matters most is the clarity of your goals, the quality of our synergy and collaboration, and the raw passion we both bring to the table.

11. On Timelines

We take our time. We prefer not to rush into projects or taking on too much at once. depending on the level of complexity, typical projects timelines range from 3 months to 1 year. while smaller projects might take just a few weeks.
Statements like “we need it yesterday” or “it’s urgent” are alien to us, we prefer not to partner with clients who work this way. we are nimble, and work with speed when we need to, but not at the expense of quality. We believe that quality matters, and that means being selective about the work we take on.
Because a significant portion of our work comes through referrals and word-of-mouth recommendations, the need to ‘showcase’ our projects is almost non-existent. As a result, we rarely discuss most of our projects, allowing our clients to decide when and how they choose to publicize their initiatives.
To further maintain discretion in our work, we also avoid writing case studies; this is because they often reveal too much information about projects and present an overly rosy portrayal of the studio’s involvement, often self-promotional, and always failing to accurately reflect the complexities of each project. They also provide little to no value to our clients, despite requiring a significant time investment to produce.
At Tormer, automatic confidentiality is an essential aspect of our offerings, which our clients have come to appreciate over time. We may occasionally publish simplified summaries of project outcomes on our website, especially if our clients would benefit from the additional publicity, but discretion remains our top priority. you can learn more about our confidentiality policy here.

13. On Getting in Touch

While we don’t actively seek out outside business, we’re always stoked to hear from founders and organizations who are passionate about making a positive impact. Whether you’re working on a project that’s changing lives or simply trying to do your part for the planet, we want to hear about it.
Even if our plate is full and we can’t collaborate on your project directly, we’d love to share ideas and offer some insights from our own experiences. We believe that by lifting each other up and sharing knowledge, we can all make a bigger difference in the world. If you want to feature Tormer in the press, please visit the press desk.
